Chicago had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs using 3 hits. After two outs Johnny Goryl keyed the rally when he was hit by a pitch. Chuck Tanner stepped up next and he laced a base-knock. Ernie Banks then doubled bringing in two baserunners. Dale Long was up next and he delivered a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Chicago rapped out 14 hits for the night. Turk Lown(6-3) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Don Gross(10-7) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk in 1 inning. ST. The winning run, and the only run, was scored by St. Louis in the top of the 4th inning. St. Louis had only 5 hits for the game. It was the 2nd shutout of the year for McDaniel(10-11). Bob Buhl(18-9) ended up with the loss. 'McDaniel just dominated us' losing pitcher Buhl said. 'Hopefully we can get to him the next time around'
