In the bottom of the 4th inning Cincinnati scored 2 runs when they had 3 base hits. They would be enough to earn the win. Cincinnati and Chicago each finished the afternoon with 9 hits. The victory went to Jeffcoat(13-11) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. The losing pitcher was Don Kaiser(3-7). He allowed 8 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings.
