Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. New York won the game in the 11th inning. Thomas led off and started the attack as he doubled. Gail Harris stepped up next and he was hit by a pitch. Danny O'Connell then drew a walk to load the bases. Dusty Rhodes followed and he drew a walk plating a run. After another out, Ray Jablonski stepped up to the plate and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. New York banged out 7 on the night. The victory went to Marv Grissom(7-4) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs. Al Worthington got the save, his 4th. Ernie Johnson(11-4) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 2 hits in 3 and 2/3 innings. Drabowsky(17-7) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 6 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Chicago and Philadelphia each finished the afternoon with 6 hits. The losing pitcher was Jack Sanford(10-15). He surrendered 3 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.
