New York scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning with 2 runs. After an out was recorded, Hank Sauer initiated the scoring spurt when he drew a walk. Valmy Thomas next to the plate and he doubled. Eddie Bressoud then was walked intentionally to load the bases. Whitey Lockman followed and he drew a walk knocking in a run. Antonelli came to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. New York had only 3 hits for the afternoon. For Antonelli(10-12) it was his 2nd shutout this year. Vinegar Bend Mizell(6-12) was the losing pitcher. New York now has a record of 72-72. With the loss, the St. Louis ballclub's record is 73-68.
