Trowbridge(6-3) had a strong outing. He allowed just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.27 to 3.02. Milwaukee rapped out 9 hits for the night. Bob Rush(10-14) was the loser. He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings. CINCINNATI AT ST. St. Louis erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Hal R. Smith led off and started the rally when he doubled. Eddie Kasko struck out, unable to help the rally. Stan Musial then drew a walk. Don Blasingame was up next and he smacked a single to load the bases. One out later, Cunningham stepped in and he slapped a one-base hit making St. Louis victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. St. Louis had a total of 14 hits for the game. Jackson(9-7) allowed 5 runs on the game. Don Gross(10-5) was given the loss. Fred Hutchinson was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that.
