The Chicago Cubs eventually emerged as victors over the Milwaukee Braves by the score of 3 to 1. Chicago came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they had 3 base hits. The critical plate appearance was by Dale Long who excited the crowd when he doubled bringing in two baserunners. Milwaukee threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Littlefield got relief help from Turk Lown who gained credit for his 5th save. Fred Haney was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one. That is what really ticks me off!'
