Ray Crone(9-10) had a steady outing. He surrendered 10 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 2 homeruns. Cincinnati threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Stu Miller was credited with his 1st save. Vicente Amor(1-2) suffered the loss. He was unable to control the New York offense and allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. Birdie Tebbetts was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.' Repulski had a big evening at the plate. He doubled knocking in a run in the 1st inning, doubled in the 6th inning and doubled with all three runners coming home in the 6th inning. Although they lost, Milwaukee did out-hit Philadelphia 10 to 7. The victory went to Sanford(9-12) who went the distance allowing 4 runs. Dave Jolly(2-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. With this win, Philadelphia has a 49-75 record. They have been 4-6 lately. With this loss, Milwaukee has a 5-5 record of late, 75-48 overall.
