Chicago went ahead for good in the top of the 5th inning when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Jerry Kindall who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he lined a base-hit scoring two baserunners. Chicago simply wore out the Pittsburgh pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings. The victory went to Moe Drabowsky(13-6) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 6 runs. Vern Law(7-10) ended up with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 16 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. It was another victory for Chicago at Forbes Field. Frank Thomas stepped into the batter's box and he laced a base-knock. Gene Freese then lined a one-base hit resulting in a run. Bill Mazeroski was up next and he lined a single resulting in a mighty exciting win for Pittsburgh and the 14,006 home town fans in attendance. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
