Chicago set the tone of the game in the first inning plating an isolated run. Chicago had a total of 11 hits for the game. Hillman(5-7) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Johnny Antonelli(8-12) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 7 hits and 1 walk. Bill Mazeroski came to the plate and reached on an error. Mazeroski swiped second base. Hank Foiles followed and he drew a walk to load the bases. Paul Smith stepped into the box and laced a single resulting in an exciting win for Pittsburgh and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Pittsburgh rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.
