Long was a one-man wrecking crew. He smacked a three-run homer in the 1st inning and belted a three-run homer (his 20th of the season) in the 3rd inning. Chicago and New York each finished the afternoon with 9 hits. The winning pitcher was Dick Drott(6-11) who allowed 6 runs in 7 innings. Poholsky recorded his 1st save. Pittsburgh made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Bob Friend(10-13) was the loser. Cincinnati now has a record of 70-50. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, Pittsburgh is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of 47-72. ST.
