Cincinnati came up with 2 runs in the 2nd inning. That was all Jeffcoat(12-7) needed. Cincinnati banged out 10 on the afternoon. Dave Hillman(4-7) was the loser. He was unable to control the Cincinnati offense and allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings. The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. New York won it in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Willie Mays tripled. Ozzie Virgil was next and he would hit into a fielders choice scoring the run. New York had 9 hits for the afternoon. Gomez(14-13), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The loss was charged to Seth Morehead(3-3) in relief. He pitched 2 innings giving up 2 hits and no walks. 'Gomez took our guys to school' Mayo Smith said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch for us - it would make my job a whole lot easier!' ST. Lew Burdette(9-10) gave Milwaukee a solid outing. He went 8 and 1/3 innings surrendering 7 hits and 2 walks. St. Louis had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Burdette got help from Don McMahon who was credited with his 6th save. The losing pitcher was Larry Jackson(8-6). The winning ways continue for Milwaukee. They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days. With the loss, St. Louis has a record of 5-5 lately, 61-54 overall. Furillo made sure the Brooklyn fans enjoyed themselves. He blasted a solo shot in the 1st inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 10th of the season) in the 7th inning and stroked a base-hit in the 8th inning. Brooklyn finished with 9 hits in the victory. The victory went to Koufax(4-4) who went 8 innings, allowing 1 run. Ron Kline(6-13) was the loser. He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 6 and 2/3 innings of work. Koufax was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the victory and I'll sure take 10 strikeouts anytime!'
