Chicago scored the deciding run in the top of the 9th inning. Banks ripped a solo home run (his 30th of the season). Despite losing, St. Louis out-hit Chicago 8 to 5. Drabowsky(11-5) finished the game allowing 4 runs in the victory. Vinegar Bend Mizell(5-6) was the loser. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 9 innings of work. 'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Drabowsky said. The Milwaukee Braves topped the Cincinnati Redlegs by the slimmest of margins, 2 to 1. Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Milwaukee pulled the game out in the 14th inning. After an out was recorded, Wes Covington tripled. Del Rice was next and he stroked a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for Milwaukee and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Milwaukee banged out 12 on the afternoon. Bob Trowbridge(3-3) got the win allowing no runs in 5 innings. Raul Sanchez(3-3) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 3 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 hits and no walks. Vern Law(7-8) allowed 1 run in 8 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Curt Simmons(9-11) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 6 runs and 11 hits in 8 innings.
