St. Louis scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning when they scored 4 runs on 3 hits. The big moment was provided by Wally Moon who electrified Sportsman's Park when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 14th of the season). St. Louis had a total of 7 hits for the game. The victory went to Herm Wehmeier(5-5) who went 8 innings, allowing 4 runs. Hoyt Wilhelm earned his 11th save. Dick Drott(5-10) was hit with the loss. Bob Hazle had a big evening at the plate. He hit a single plating two runs in the 1st inning, emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 1st of the season) in the 3rd inning and doubled which scored a run in the 4th inning. Cincinnati went down quietly in the 9th. Gene Conley(7-4) allowed 5 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Ernie Johnson recorded his 10th save. Brooks Lawrence(9-6) absorbed the loss. He was unable to control the Milwaukee offense and allowed 6 hits and 4 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings. 'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some adjustments,' Hazle said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting you out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'
