Tanner had a good day at the plate. He lofted a three-run bomb (his 8th of the season) in the 4th inning and doubled plating two runs in the 9th inning. For the game Chicago out-hit Pittsburgh 16 to 10. Dick Drott(5-6) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Dick Littlefield recorded the save, his 3rd. Bob Purkey(4-10) ended up with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 5 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings. The losing pitcher was Johnny Klippstein(10-3). He gave up just 4 runs and 4 hits in 6 innings.
