Both teams were tied at 8 runs apiece after nine innings. New York ended up winning it in the 11th inning. The highlight belonged to Valmy Thomas who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he caught a hold of a bad pitch for a Grand Slam homerun (his 2nd of the season). Despite losing, Chicago out-hit New York 14 to 11. Al Worthington(4-3) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Turk Lown(4-3) was charged with the loss in relief. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. The winning pitcher was Drabowsky(4-5) who allowed 1 run for the game. Curt Barclay(3-4) was the loser.
