Both teams were tied at 10 runs apiece after nine innings. New York won it in the 11th inning. Whitey Lockman doubled. One out later, Willie Mays struck out, unable to help the rally. Bobby Thomson then singled scoring the run. New York lit up the scoreboard in the 3rd inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits. Chicago was out-hit by New York, 21 hits to 15. Marv Grissom(3-1) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Don Elston(0-2) was charged with the loss in relief.
