Katt had a big day at the plate. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 3rd inning and cracked a two-run shot (his 4th of the season) in the 7th inning. New York rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon. The victory was credited to Worthington(3-3) who went 4 innings, allowing no runs. Ernie Johnson(2-1) took the loss in relief. He allowed New York 4 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work. With this win, New York has a 29-32 record. They have been 7-3 lately. With the loss, the Milwaukee ballclub's record is 33-26. Bob Speake provided much of the offense. He smashed a two-run homer (his 7th of the season) in the 1st inning, singled in the 5th inning and doubled scoring a run in the 8th inning. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times. Dick Littlefield(2-1) got the win allowing 2 runs in 2 innings. Littlefield was helped out by Turk Lown who recorded his 3rd save. The loss was charged to Harvey Haddix(1-6). He was knocked around by Chicago, allowing 15 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings. St. Louis came up with 4 runs in the 4th inning with the help of 5 hits. They would hold up as the winning runs. Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but St. Louis was able to put down the rally. Murry Dickson(4-5) allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Dickson got relief help from Lloyd Merritt who gained credit for his 5th save. Luis Arroyo(4-2) suffered the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
