New York rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon. Gomez got help from Marv Grissom who earned his 6th save. Brooks Lawrence(5-4) took the loss. He gave up 6 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings. MILWAUKEE AT PHILADELPHIA Braves.......... 0 1 3 0 2 0 0 0 0 - 6 12 1 Phillies........ 0 0 3 0 2 0 0 0 5 - 10 9 0 Win:Morehead(2-0) Loss:Buhl(6-5) Homeruns- J.Adcock(10th), B.Thomson(5th), H.Anderson(2nd), S.Lopata(10th) Harry Anderson smacked a grand slam at Connie Mack Stadium as the Philadelphia Phillies pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Milwaukee Braves by the count of 10 to 6. Philadelphia came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning when they tallied 5 runs on 4 hits. The big moment was provided by Anderson who came through for the home fans when he launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun (his 2nd of the season). Milwaukee had 12 hits in the game while Philadelphia had 9, but Philadelphia had the more timely hits. Seth Morehead(2-0) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. The loss was charged to Bob Buhl(6-5). By surrending 8 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings his ERA jumped from 3.05 to 3.58. 'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Anderson noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!' ST. Brooklyn had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The victory went to Jones(6-1) who went the distance allowing 4 runs. Roger Craig(3-4) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 3 homeruns in 5 innings of work. Jones was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good command of all my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on.'
