A hugely decisive outburst by Chicago in the top of the 9th inning quieted any Pittsburgh hopes for a victory as they ripped Pittsburgh for 7 runs on 6 hits. The highlight belonged to Jerry Kindall who silenced the crowd when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 1st of the season). Overall Chicago out-hit Pittsburgh 11 to 8. Dick Littlefield(1-1) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Ron Kline(5-7) was the loser. Bob Scheffing was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there? You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til its over.' Kluszewski had a good evening at the plate. He cracked a two-run shot in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning and ripped a solo home run (his 3rd of the season) in the 7th inning. Cincinnati managed 9 in their victory. Nuxhall(6-1) was credited with the shutout. The loss was charged to Stu Miller(1-5). He gave up 6 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings. 'All of my pitches were working tonight,' Nuxhall said. 'I felt really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone longer.'
