Robinson provided the offensive punch. He delivered a base-hit in the 2nd inning, ripped a base-knock knocking in a run in the 5th inning, lined a single in the 7th inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 10th of the season) in the 8th inning. Cincinnati rapped out 14 hits for the night. The win was credited to Nuxhall(5-1) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs. Vern Law(2-4) was the losing pitcher. His ERA increased from 3.67 to 4.15 as he allowed 8 runs in 8 innings. Brooklyn won the game with a run in the bottom of the 8th inning. After an out was recorded, Charlie Neal drew a walk. Neal stole second with some aggressive base running. One out later, Newcombe came up and he drew a walk. Sandy Amoros stepped in and he laced a single scoring the run. Brooklyn totaled 10 on the night. Newcombe(6-1) was the winner allowing 4 runs for the game. Bob Buhl(6-4) suffered the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 6 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
