Aaron was a one-man wrecking crew. He lined a single in the 1st inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 3rd inning, laced a base-hit in the 7th inning and rifled a three-run blast (his 9th of the season) in the 9th inning. Both teams ended up with 8 on the afternoon. The win went to Gene Conley(3-2) who allowed 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Ernie Johnson gained credit for his 3rd save. Dick Drott(2-2) was the loser. 'I had a big day, but there's a lot of credit to go around' Aaron said. 'We played well together as a team.' Banks helped send the fans home happy. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 10th of the season) in the 8th inning. Milwaukee had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Elmer Singleton(2-0) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Singleton got help from Turk Lown who was credited with his 1st save. Law(1-2) delivered a fine performance for Pittsburgh. He went 9 innings allowing 9 hits and 1 walk lowering his ERA to 4.20. Pittsburgh rapped out 15 hits for the afternoon. Curt Simmons(3-3) ended up with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 8 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Philadelphia had 3 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning with the help of 4 hits. Ed Bouchee led off and keyed the rally when he stroked a one-base hit. Willie Jones followed and he smacked a single. Bob Bowman then lashed a single driving in a run. Joe Lonnett stepped in and he would ground out scoring one more run. After an out was recorded, Cardwell came up and he stroked a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh each finished the afternoon with 8 hits. The winning pitcher was Cardwell(3-1) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Laurin Pepper(0-1) took the loss. He pitched 8 innings giving up 8 hits and 3 walks.

Musial had a big day at the plate. He delivered a one-base hit scoring a run in the 1st inning, bombed a two-run dinger in the 3rd inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 7th of the season) in the 4th inning. Cincinnati was out-hit by St. Louis, 15 hits to 7. The winning pitcher was Murry Dickson(3-1) who allowed 1 run in 6 and 2/3 innings. Hal Jeffcoat(4-2) was given the loss. Sauer was really in 'the zone'. He smacked a single in the 4th inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 7th inning, laced a base-hit plating a run in the 8th inning and belted a three-run homer (his 9th of the season) in the 9th inning. New York totaled 16 on the afternoon. The win went to Ruben Gomez(4-5) who allowed 5 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Sandy Koufax(0-3) was the loser. 'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there and being prepared,' Sauer said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not do too much.
