Bob Buhl(4-1) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Buhl got help from Ray Crone who was credited with his 1st save. Al Worthington(1-2) absorbed the loss. Bob Skinner led off and he banged out a single. Two outs later Roberto Clemente came up and he doubled bringing in a run. Frank Thomas then stroked a single scoring the final run of the inning. Cincinnati had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. The victory went to Luis Arroyo(3-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run. Arroyo was helped out by Nellie King who recorded his 1st save. Art Fowler(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 3 innings and surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk. 'We just made a lot of mistakes, mostly mental,' Birdie Tebbetts said. 'It's bad enough when the other team beats you, but when you start beating yourselves, that's really bad.'
