The game was won by Milwaukee with a run in the 9th inning. Juan Pizarro delivered a base-hit. Danny O'Connell came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Hank Aaron then reached on an error scoring the run. Milwaukee ended up with 10 hits for the game while St. Louis had 6. The winning pitcher was Pizarro(1-1) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Pizarro got relief help from Ernie Johnson who gained credit for his 2nd save. Willard Schmidt(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of work. Sanford(2-2) was very good in the win. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 5 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 5.24 to 3.73. Philadelphia rapped out 10 hits for the night. The losing pitcher was Ron Kline(2-3). He gave up 4 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.
