The crucial at-bat was provided by Red Schoendienst who came through for the home fans when he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 2nd of the season). New York out-hit Chicago for the game, 7 hits to 2. The win was credited to Gomez(2-2) who went 8 innings allowing no runs. Don Kaiser(0-1) was the losing pitcher.
