New York scored 3 runs in the 5th inning with the help of 4 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Dusty Rhodes who made the New York fans a happy lot when he bombed a two-run dinger (his 4th of the season). Chicago threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. The win was credited to Curt Barclay(2-1) who went 8 innings allowing 2 runs. Windy McCall recorded his 1st save.
