The score was tied at 5 after nine. Chicago came out the victor in the 10th inning. Bobby Del Greco got things going when he smacked a single. Ernie Banks was next and he lined a single. Banks was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Dale Long was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases. Lee Walls came to the plate and tripled emptying the bases. Philadelphia was retired without difficulty in the bottom of the 10th. The victory was credited to Turk Lown(2-1) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no runs. Turk Farrell(0-1) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1 inning allowing 3 hits and 1 walk. Rhodes stepped into the batter's box and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 2nd of the season) making New York victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.
