Nuxhall(1-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Cincinnati. He went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 hits and 1 walk. The left-handed Nuxhall lost his chance for a no-hitter when Cal Neeman doubled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Cincinnati had 11 hits for the game and Chicago had 6. Don Gross was credited with his 1st save. Moe Drabowsky(0-2) was the loser. He surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings. Ken Boyer came up and he laced a one-base hit scoring the run. St. Louis totaled 8 on the afternoon. The win went to Wehmeier(2-1) who allowed 1 run in the game.
