The Milwaukee Braves rewarded their record breaking crowds with their 1st pennant since moving to Milwaukee in 1953. The Braves started slowly, trailing the defending Champion Cincinnati Redlegs by as many as 6 games on June 20th. But they began a steady ascent to the top, and eventually took the lead for good on August 8th.  This season represented the last year in New York for the Dodgers and Giants. They will relocate in Los Angeles and San Francisco respectively for 1958.
