The Cincinnati Redlegs ended the Brooklyn Dodgers run of two consecutive National League Championships by winning the 1956 NL Title by 9 games over the runner-up Dodgers. The Redlegs took the League lead for good by defeating the Dodgers in a doubleheader June 24th, and steadily increased their lead to a season high 15.5 games on August 15th. They coasted the rest of the way.
